Most providers offer a 12 month agreement for a telecare system, renewable annually. Think carefully before signing a contract for any longer. That way if you are not satisfied with the service, or find a better deal elsewhere, you can change provider easily after the first year. Depending on the make/model of your equipment some 24/7 monitoring centres can transfer your monitoring contract over the telephone. Always check this first to avoid call-out charges, as some equipment types may need the base-unit reprogrammed in order to change provider.
