Arthritis Care Northern Ireland – FREE self management courses

Arthritis NI

Arthritis Care Northern Ireland are running FREE self management courses during February & March 2017. These include courses for people with long term conditions, including Epilepsy, MS, Parkinson’s and Arthritis. They are designed to help people take control of their condition and include pain management techniques.

The Challenging Arthritis course is for people over 18 years who have arthritis or fibromyalgia and are looking for ways to cope.  Topics covered are pain management, healthy lifestyle, communication skills, positive thinking, fatigue, problem solving and goal setting and accessing information.

The Challenging Your Condition Course is a supportive group where everyone shares helpful tips and experiences.  The course leaders have a Long Term Condition themselves and understand the difficulties participants face.  They refuse to let symptoms take control of their lives and can support you to manage yours.  The emphasis is on learning what you can do for yourself and how to make the most of the information you get from doctors, nurses and other health care workers.  Its for people living with a Chronic Long Term Condition ( Epilepsy, MS, Parkinson’s, arthritis etc)  even if newly diagnosed.

The two week programme called Challenging Pain is specifically for those people who are living with long-term chronic pain, as a result of their long term condition.  This two week programme deals specifically with the problems people face when living with chronic pain on a daily basis.  The course provides new ideas and skills to help manage pain more effectively.
